why wouldn't a fleet of airship, floating at a high altitude say 60,000ft, using their solar energy to stay out of each others way with main movement being the wind currents.
This could establish a grid for wifi, allow them to come down under control for maintenance and not pollute LOE and upper atmosphere.
@mral It's a very cool idea. Just like space elevators are a very cool idea (see my posts from a few days ago). The airship thing might be slightly more feasible, but not by much from what I've seen... I'd be happy to be wrong though.

I figured there are significant challenges to actual implementation but we need hope and options so I sleep a little better thinking at least a few good minds are thinking about it.
There may not be any point to giant airships on Earth any more.
But I would still like the Venus aerobot.
(Since doing a drone like Dragonfly is right out.)

Yep, that was just as terrible as I expected, and the goats were just as unhappy as I expected. They all have grain or hay and a nice straw-filled place to sleep that's out of the rain and wind.
Before I go to bed I have to write a rec letter for a student who gave me less than 48 hours... sigh. I will write a (short) letter because they're a very good student, but I will send them a note saying that in the future, I can write better letters if they give me more time...
