Serious question to all the scientists out there. We need to get this sorted. What do we call plantbased meatballs? I will not have plantballs. You cannot tell your loved ones you're giving them plantballs. It doesn't work on any level.

For the avoidance of doubt - I do not love prefixing everything with 'vegan' this or 'plantbased' that. It should just be..... cake. Or....... lasagne. Or whatever. We don't go.... ooooooh, here are some pork sweets. Because that would be mental. And yet..... loooooot of pork in the old sweeties.
@TheBreadmonkey years ago I read this short story on reddit written from the perspective of a boy from the future who accidentally travels back in time to our world. someone gives him a hot dog and he is disgusted to find out that that our civilization "still" makes food out of animals, since apparently in the future plant-based food is the norm and doesn't need a "vegan" description
@TheBreadmonkey Hong Kong style bakeries have these things called little chicken cookies. They're savoury cookies, with meat and animal fat.

@TheBreadmonkey I just call them “fake” plus whatever the meat they are substitutes for: fake meatballs, fake chicken nuggets, fake burgers, or fake meat crumbles. 🤷🏻♀️
I try not to eat too much of that stuff on the grounds that it’s very processed & more natural foods are better, but oh boy are they convenient for rushed nights.
