Orange peel fungus growing amidst some short green moss. As the name suggests, it looks like discarded orange peels, thin and flat but also curving and folding.

Eyelash fairy cups, small dark orange fungus, slightly cup shaped, with black fringe that looks like eyelashes. It's growing on the underside of dark rotting wood with a lovely layer of green moss above.

The cut end of a tree stump on its side, with lots of little yellow dots. It's lemon disco fungus. They're super tiny and slightly cup shaped.

Pink ghost pipes

Ghost pipes growing on the forest floor. They have pink stems, and white leaves and petals. The stems are straight, with the flowers turning down at the top.

And this was really cool. We saw a ton of insects feeding off a blackened area of dead leaves on the ground. Then we looked up and saw these beech blight aphids. My son had heard of them before. He tapped the branch to see the reaction, and we saw why they're also known as boogie woogie aphids.
