He can't force a United Ireland on the UK/RoI, what he could do is increase pressure for the UK govt to hold the referendum which the Good Friday Agreement says should be triggered when it is clear a majority is for independence.

I personally don't think there's a big enough majority and if the Brexit result was toxic, well, Irish unification would be worse. But it is time for the UK and RoI to start discussion on what unification would look like, in particular, how everyone who considers themselves British could continue to operate as if they were still in the UK, just as the GFA allowed anyone who wanted to self-identify as Irish to do
