besides : telling people to stop funneling money in a franchise is not equivalent to inviting hatred towards people who still like said franchise. it's just not the same thing.

We had similar stuff from the conservative nutjobs when JK dropped the books. They were demonic, corrupting the kids. They were burning the fucking books as maleficarum as the little ones clung to their novel virginal magus messiah. The Rat King himself, Benedict XVI, has to step up to try and save the kids from JK's heretical magical tales, the Imam's too....a demonic false messiah Orthodox churches were chanting.
Harry's still demonic across large swathes of planet earth, he's a forbidden fruit in more than a few households that are perhaps not yet fully woke to fediverse levels ime.
Tear down the ancient power structures, march on mosques & churches across the land that are the great seats of misogyny, homophobia and transphobia poisoning the well and feeding on hate, fear and control...leave the the kid with the hufflepuff scarf on alone.
Personally I think, without realizing it, JK Rowling gave countless millions of children the magical power to be queer as fuck, and now she's sad about it.

@leroimiracle @proinsias mmkay but when you support Harry Potter, the franchise stays popular and makes more money. that money goes to JKR. who uses her money to directly oppress trans people and strip us of our rights.

@tillybridges after watching a Bridget Jones film last night and thinking for a moment that it and similar British films (Four Weddings et al) were inclusive I suddenly realised how they're not. Sure they're more inclusive than Hollywood films (in general).
But no trans people. Not only trans. What decides this?
I can't think of a mainstream film that features or even included a #trans person. Wow.
