Every so often, I see an account here with "men: do not interact" (or similar) in the bio.
Setting boundaries is important, so I block the account and go about my day.
I can't promise to read every bio before each reply, but I do try.

I've been on mastodon for almost a year. During that time, there have been several times when I have nearly rage-quit at the quantity of self-obsession, entitlement, and infantile bad-taste shit-posting on show. Today was one of those days.
Interestingly, cis-gender men have never been the cause. A certain other people group almost always is, though.
It's been an eye-opener, for sure.
That sounds horrible :(
@neil
Nah. I'm a big girl - I can handle it.
The guys I've interacted with on here are generally great, though, and are almost never the cause of any angst. Most of them want to tell me about computers and stuff, but, y'know. Rough with the smooth and all that..🤭
> I'm a big girl - I can handle it.
I know what you do for a job. You must be absolutely awesome at "handling" unpleasant stuff, and segmenting to stay sane.
I am genuinely in awe of you for that.
(To counterbalance this praise, you probably also smell.)
@neil Interesting to compare to “Asian: do not interact”
I’d probably mute rather than block.
Better, I’d love a labeler that could warn me not to interact with a particular poster. Labelers are hard though.
Labelers are perhaps the most important part of ATProto that needs to be ported to ActivityPub. Many vulnerable communities would rather have their data be hosted by BlueSky, than deal with the harassment with the limited tools currently in Mastodon for example.
> Interesting to compare to “Asian: do not interact”
I'd block a person with this in their bio. I've no time for that kind of racism.
I am, however, appreciative that some people - often femmes - will have had problems with men online, and wish to cut that right out.
@neil firstly yay good job. I guess fair play I would do the same if it was no woman, though I've never seen it. I would block more out of not wanting to interact with a bigot, whereas I think you're probably being kind. Secondly just so sad someone had been through whatever to do that AND then missed out on great men like you who can help balance out the nobheads.
> Secondly just so sad someone had been through whatever to do that AND then missed out on great men like you who can help balance out the nobheads.
It *is* sad, but the benefit may simply not outweigh the risks involved in finding out. The notion of "treating every gun as loaded, until you have personally confirmed otherwise".
@neil
Well I would like to block or mute any account which makes such a thing, not just this special case. I think there was something that only blacks/whites can reply? I instantly blocked(or muted?) the account.
