One of the main reasons LLMs are popular for programming is that programming languages suck.
I’m hoping that better languages will emerge that are more geared at what humans actually want to do (e.g. there’s no reason simple scripts need 100-line boilerplates).
And then you’ll get the speed of implementation without the wastefulness and roulette-playing of an LLM.
@thomasfuchs @sushee That’s why tools like Visual Basic, AppleScript and Hypercard (and Lisp/Smalltalk) were so great… but they’re also a bajillionty years old and that concept hasn’t evolved. Those were the single-celled organisms in comparison to what we *should* have today.
