Everything is terrible, but the temperatures are finally cool enough here that the cats want to sit on my lap while I'm working at my computer! Yay kitty snuggles while typing!
(But that cooler weather means we have the first frost coming soon, looks like probably this weekend. SIGHHHHH. I JUST started getting good tomatoes!)
The low for tonight is now up to 3C, with showers. It's often a little bit colder at my house than on the forecast... if it snows tonight I'm going to cry. Probably still going to get some frost.
Anyway, time to pick all the ripe and mostly ripe tomatoes and peppers, cover the pumpkins with straw, and pick most (maybe all) of the corn, and find all the monster zucchinis that are lurking under the leaves. Will try to cover the tomatoes and see if we get a few more days out of them.

@sundogplanets Right now, Dew point at Regina is 6.2°, so once temperature drops to it, it will spend much time there because as the water condensates on grass, windshields etc, it releases heat. And having cloudy skies also keep some heat in.

@sundogplanets I know, it's too soon. We had snow down to about 700 m on August 31. It has since melted, but the leaves are turning, we've had our first hard frost, I think all the fireweed is burnt out. Despite global warming, the summers feel shorter and the winters longer, but chalking that up to age.
@sundogplanets Low temperature in Pasadena, California was 21 C last night. Would be nice if we could get some cooler air and send you some warmer air.
@sundogplanets I wish it would cool off here in the Dallas, TX, area. We’re expecting a high of 100F today and for at least the next week 🙄

@sundogplanets not many people are aware that virtually all non-organic wheat gets sprayed with glyphosate shortly before combine harvesting to kill off the plants and dessicate them. At least in North America anyway, not sure about the rest of the world. No bueno.

@sundogplanets the day I discovered that any sign of pink blush on a green tomato means it will eventually ripen even if picked, was the day I ate fresh tomatoes into December.
@sundogplanets I think we're getting the hottest day of the year where I am today.
@sundogplanets My grandparents used to pull out tomato plants before first frost and hang them upside down in the basement to let some more tomatoes get ripe.
@EricFielding Yeah, we tried that one year and it was messier and didn't work any better than just picking all the green tomatoes and letting them try to ripen off the vine. I'm hoping I can put some rowcover on and they'll survive for a few more days at least.

Looks like our first frost will be tomorrow night - hopefully not tonight, we have a bunch of veggies to harvest before it frosts and there wasn't time today.
It was cool enough when I went out for evening chores tonight that I had to find a toque and a coat. And then it rained a bunch. And then there was a really neat sunset-red rainbow!
...but very unfortunately, at the end of this rainbow was not a pot of gold, but a tanker truck full of glyphosate in the neighbour's wheat field.
