Another sponsor for DHH's pet pile of configuration scripts, to the tune of $3 million.
I have a few (rhetorical) questions here:
- Why is money leaping out of the woodwork for this when there are so many other good open source causes that actually *need* the money for real development, etc.?
- From the start DHH basically said that they got more money than planned; why is even more arriving?
My guess is that this money is going to get laundered into sponsorships for major FOSS events to shove the Omarchy brand in people's faces. That's going to be a barrel of fun when an event either accepts the funding and becomes a lightning rod for criticism, or turns down the money and ... becomes a lightning rod for criticism.
Edit: I'd be happy to accept sponsors for my collection of configuration files on top of CachyOS. For the low annual sponsorship fee of $250,000 your company or organization can be a platinum tier sponsor.
All of the proceeds will go to supporting quality Linux writing, spoiling my cats, maintaining my book/music habits, and fine Scotch. Inquire within.
@jzb sure sure, but are you a racist fascist supporter?
I won't throw my millions at just any old FOSSer. Nearly said FOSSil but that would be cruel and I'm not cruel, often. 🤣
