Trump keeps expanding his trade war with Canada.
Instead of letting Trump bully smaller countries one by one, we need a pact of mutual support.
When Trump puts tariffs on Canada, not only Canada should retaliate — all the Democratic countries should put retaliatory tariffs on the US.

@randahl I say go one step further, double the overall tariffs if the product has anything to do with a state that pedo in chief won in any part of its life cycle.

What do me import from the US?
oil, gas, less and less because we are transitioning, but if we put tariffs, it would be even more expensive for consumers who can't afford higher prices.
Medical equipment: well, same problem, it would just make our costs higher and increase our debt.
The best solution is may be wean ourselves from those products, a long term solution but probably a better solution.

EU, find a backbone, we are not trumps bootlickers and need the commision to prove that.

@randahl Why? Unless the country imposing tariffs has an alternate source of supply and very flexible supply chains, tariffs just push up prices for consumers in that country. Tariffs that intend to shift supply chains come with a long warning and slow ramp up so people can plan for them, stop renewing contracts for suppliers in one place and move this money elsewhere.
If Trump wants to put up prices for the poorest people in his country just before a big election, the rest of the world should let him.
