another bit of bullshit - manufacturers listing NEDC range instead of WLTP because the number is bigger (not so bad on 2025/2026 cars, but pretty common on 2024 cars)
@huwr yes :(
they try and cram too much shit in there
@decryption My parents' car is such a cram-the-features-in-without-a-thought car. The door handles don't even work. You have to press a button near the door handle, not the door handle. It also yells at you for not paying attention while you're driving. $95K shit box imho
@huwr @decryption That's why I always buy VWs: they're not great value these days, but they're the car-est of cars on the road, with minimal techno-BS in the way. If they'd only sell an electric wagon in Australia I'd buy it tomorrow...
@layoutSubviews @huwr the VW ID4 Pro looks like it is closest to meeting all my criteria to be honest, only downside is the glass roof, but that's the least annoying of all the annoying things in other cars
@decryption @huwr what makes a glass roof a dealbreaker?
@layoutSubviews @huwr it isn't a deal breaker, but it's certainly not optimal. A glass roof gets fucking hot in summer. They radiate heat into the cabin and force the AC to work harder. Every EV I've owned with a glass roof has burnt my head. Never had that in a non-glass roof. You can get covers, and the EX30 cover I have does an okay job, but I'd rather not have to do that.
@decryption @huwr my vote is for a used BMW i4 eDrive 40. The greatest damn car ever made*
*I'm not biased, you're biased!
@rustyshelf @huwr I like it, wife doesn’t (also still expensive!)
@decryption I like electric cars and would gladly buy one but it seems all modern cars are awful
