It’s true that AI is leading to increased software output—whenever I have a need for specific software I find like 3 separate vibe-coded abandoned code repositories with all files from like 4 months ago and it’s very shiny and doesn’t work at all.

@thomasfuchs I don’t remember what it was, but I was looking for a tool and found three different abandoned GitHub projects from the last 12 months that all had Claude commits and all did almost the exact same thing in the same way. Two of them had bug reports for the exact same issue too! And none of them did all of the things the readme claimed they could do.

This is a daily occurrence now.
The main effect is that it’s harder to find actual real software that works. It reminds me of SEO spam websites.
This includes even OTHER software that uses LLM-generated code btw.
The root cause is how it’s marketed, like as if it was a magic programming slave that everyone can make software with instead of one tool of many for professionals.

What baffles me personally is the insane release rates that some of these vibe coded projects have. I use one that has sometimes 4 releases per day.
