@glyph This is why I tend to see the AI boosters like I do pick-up artists.
They won't take no for an answer, or leave us alone. They instead try every method of persuasion to get us to just give in.

Do you remember the MGTOW movement? I feel that's another parallel. It wasn't just that they wanted to leave women behind, it's that they spent so much time wanting women to know they were leaving them behind, almost as if the whole thing were just performative.

Maybe they notice that AI is super unpopular, and they're desperate for that to change because they desperately need to believe that AI is self-evidently super awesome at everything and anything ... when it so clearly is NOT.

I am arguing against AI because I think it's actively bad if you use it. It's making my life worse. It's probably making _your_ life worse. I have specific, concrete, enumerated harms which I which to reduce in the world. But I cannot understand the desire to argue _back_ against this so forcefully and so sneeringly.
If the technology is, in fact, so self-evidently great, then you could go off and build cool shit with it, prove us all wrong, and demonstrate the net utility argument you're trying to make all in one. Log the fuck off! Stop diddling with your giant pile of markdown files that beg the robot to please stop making mistakes and BUILD SOMETHING GOOD!
There are lots of apps and libraries and tools that I already liked, that are getting infested with AI and either staying the same or getting worse. I would be lying if I said that everything was decaying into obvious slop, some quite high-quality projects are staying high-quality as far as I can tell. But there's no big leaps in functionality, no cool new features or better docs. Best case scenario is things kinda keep bumping along, with the maintainers *claiming* some efficiency I can't see.

But as a certified hater there is basically _nothing_ new I have seen where I thought, oh no, I like this, and it seems good, but I don't want to use it because it's AI. The way I find out things are AI is that they suck shit and I think "wait does this suck shit because it's AI?" and yes it does every single time
