@mos_8502 im just constantly seeing people say stupid things about AI that only make sense if they just learned about AI in the last 5 years and its really annoying

I am not going to apologize for saying possibly stupid things about "AI" related nonsense, while the overall reporting conflates LLM/GPT systems with any other (less hyped) forms of what could also be termed as "AI".
When I can log into Gmail and log out again without seeing multiple links to "try some of our AI", I'll try to be more nuanced.
