My radical position is that if you’re a US citizen who thinks the reason you can’t get a job is:
- an immigrant who has to check ‘needs visa sponsorship’ when 95% of jobs will filter them out
- who, when hired, needs to go through a months long process to get a visa and visa stamping
- in a time when visa stamping can take months or even years
- when employers have to pay 100K per new H-1B employee
- people who live in precarious fear of having to leave in 60 days if laid off (and this might even end reduced)
George Carlin would have a few things to say about that.
This is just a leftist version of America First
(This is also in response to a post about why the far right is ascendant in Germany. Find an anti H-1B leftist and there’s usually a racist underneath, that’s far more important to them than labor rights, but they use the language of labor rights to paper over their racism)
I don’t usually block people but this is something I absolutely will block people over. No, I do not want to hear you say ‘you just hate the system; poor immigrants, we should get rid of it to help them’. Fuck you
