I have a short ride I do. It’s Portsmouth sea front end to end twice. About 9 miles.
One of the route’s roads is Ferry Road. It’s the most economically disadvantaged end of the mostly middle class council ward of Eastney & Craneswater.
I have cycled it hundreds of times and I was on it at about 2pm today.
Unbeknowns to me at the time there were 140 migrants in danger off the eastern end of the Isle of Wight. And they were brought ashore on Ferry Road…
…At which point Portsmouth councillor, George Madgwick, formerly of UKIP and now leader of Reform UK in Hampshire stirred up shit on social media and, with the help of Steven Yaxley-Lennon arse lickers, hundreds of anti-migrant protestors descended upon Ferry Road.
The thing about Eastney & Craneswater is that it is also host to many of the wealthiest homes in Portsea Island, and I have no doubt that many of them are Reform supporters too.

…Linda was a Conservative councillor who in 2020 was booted out of the Tories for sharing racist Facebook posts. Effectively saying the quiet part out loud.
That year, Linda also organised an illegal gathering of people to protest at COVID lockdown conditions in the grounds of one of Portsmouth’s food entrepreneurs
…It saddens me greatly that the Madgwicks and Symes of this world are manipulating Portsmouth’s least wealthy into directing their ire at those who have nothing, instead of the grifters who have consistently been stealing from them for decades

…It was the same growing up in rural Lincolnshire where impoverished agricultural workers consistently voted for Conservative shits.
And now parts of that county are a Reform hotbed
