Found a useful looking Open Source tool. Distributed as source code rather than a binary, which is fair enough.
But all the README says is:
> Compile the project like any normal rust binary
Yeah, cheers pal. What a nice and user-friendly instruction. Sure that won't send me down a hundred rabbit-holes requiring me to install ever-more esoteric packages to match your dev environment.
And we wonder why people turn to LLMs for help.
(Please don't reply to tell me how to compile a Rust binary.)

Then pick up the residue from all over the place and put it into the “red rust” and “black rust” compartments. If you use a magnet to separate the red from the black make sure to cover it with a paper towel before picking up the haematite with it, so that you can get it off afterwards.
Then you’ll have compiled your rust into a red/black binary.
@Edent I was surprised how many times I found a Nix package for such projects. Saves all the hassle. 😄
@Razemix ah, yes, the famous "hassle free" experience of Nix. That never has any issues and always works without typing esoteric commands into a terminal and hoping your text files have perfect syntax. A joyous computing nirvana…
@Edent This is modern nerdism. It has gotten this bad. They even ship AppImages with external dependencies. There is NO backwards compatibility, especially in the Linux space. This has got to end.
