a lovely Pivot to AI viewer got me this webcam off my Amazon wishlist!

it's nice? tested it just now. it trounces the C920 just by being proper USB-3 so the stream is actually *sharp*.

I did a 4k/30 test recording to Zencastr just now and straight out the camera it's very dark and oversaturated. correcting this sort of thing is why we have ffmpeg of course.

field of view is very wide. too wide really. but again since i get good 4k just straight from it, that's plenty of room to crop

there is fancy logitech software to tweak and tune your MX Brio - for windows and mac. on linux, you just get what the camera sends. but that's fine.

i'll be putting this to real use tomorrow morning, assuming my interviewee is back to health (delayed from thursday)

not sure i'd be keen to use it webcamming with others with that sorta colour output tho. i'm sure there's a v4l2 command line

i'd want to get much more used to this to use it for the regular podcast recordings, and also i'll need to figure out my bodged together lighting again

@davidgerard There’s cameractrls https://github.com/soyersoyer/cameractrls which knows about the three preset POVs the Brio has (65º, 78º and 95º or something along those lines). It is also able to take care about your brightness issues.

@davidgerard In case it helps, there's a handy GUI program for tweaking camera config without the v4l2 CLI stuff, it's called qv4l2 from the v4l-utils package. Been using it for webcam config for years.
