@justine Currently switching over to NetBSD as server platform and daily driver here:
server: Beelink ME Pro NAS (Intel N150, PCH9, AMI BIOS) - ACPI issue during boot, disabling (boot -2) uses Intel MPS and is fine. Drivers for all h/w.
old laptop: HP Elitebook 8570w (i7 3rd gen, PCH7, NV Quadro 1000 dGPU, HP SATA & BIOS) - requires nv blob drivers for GPU, too old for DRI/Wayland so X11 only. All other hardware detected ok and has drivers. Does not recover from ACPI S3 sleep.

daily laptop: Thinkpad E590 (i5 8th gen+UHD 620, PCH8, Lenovo BIOS) - about to try it! Has run FreeBSD successfully, drivers for all h/w except fingerprint reader (same under Debian Linux)

No specific compatibility issues with any of this hardware, with the custom build I eventually settled on an older fanless nvidia card (GT 710)
@justine I use it daily on a thinkpad x230. Mostly no issues though it took a little tinkering to set it up. Suspend works but I have to shift through consoles when the laptop wakes up to get back to X. Mostly feels like Linux in the early days to me.
