Do you think the appreciation of, and fascination with, ghost signs is a form of 'nagori' as explained here?
Reminds me of the artist, whose name I can't remember, who installed a frame filled with freshly cut roses — the beauty was to be found in the decay/transition, much like the turning of the leaves in autumn.
That's an interesting thought. It could be.
The examples I read were about events, passages in life, and not specific items altered through time and entropy. But if that entropy marks a feeling or a sensation for a person, then the savoring of it would be Nagori.
Again, I'm not a linguist or an authority on Japanese language. I just find it cool that a sensation many of us have experienced has been identified and named in a culture.
