Actually, an even earlier version was in an original "Twilight Zone" episode (Valley of the Shadow - 1963) where a man stumbles across a small town with highly advanced tech. One of the devices they show him is a replicator that creates objects from printed paper cards with the molecular formula encoded on them. Very much like a 3D model STL or 3MF file.
