Canada VPN and incognito browser it still says lake Ontario on Google Maps. They just localize to the whims of the local regime.
@molly0xfff I do wish Google/Apple/Someone had the temerity to relabel only the southern half of the lake. Leaving the Canadian half labeled Lake Ontario would make a useful political point.
@molly0xfff I think as silly as the naming dispute is, Google and Apple bending the knee (again) is a pretty important and worrying signal.

@molly0xfff Anybody can change Wikipedia to say anything they want, for about five minutes maybe. Enough to get a screenshot and send it out on a fundraiser email to gullible red hatters.

@oblomov Lake America already redirects to Lake Ontario, which is standard for alternative names
