"Politician X supports Israel; they must be getting paid/blackmailed by them."

"Politician Y supports Russia: they must be getting blackmailed/paid by them."

This is a common opinion I see going around, and I think it's somewhat naive because it excludes the much worse possibility: admiration.

Israel/Russia doesn't need to pay or blackmail politician X. Politician X sees that Israel/Russia is genociding brown/gay people. This is a policy that politician X admires and wishes they could implement at home.
