When I’ve had the rate opportunity to talk to people about their opposition to transmission lines (Western Renewables Link goes past Bacchus Marsh) it’s almost entirely aesthetic related. Which to be fair, transmission lines are way uglier than the wind turbines.
Yeah they are damn ugly but ... there's always a but ... the same people would complain about their land being dug up for the underground lines ... and in times of need that $8000 per kilometre of transmission line compensation is handy ...
Sad thing is ... we all want to take advantage of the many things using electricity, but want somebody else to pay for it ...

there's dozens of documents like this that make no sense:
it's a printed, signed and scanned notice that this guy has collected some documents - who did he send this to? who is he sending the "notice" to? himself? what the fuck is "Annex A, B, C, D, E" ??why aren't those documents attached to the record if they're so important?

the latter complaint is very legitimate - if it has been over 100 days since the turbine shit itself and there's crap everywhere, that's unacceptable
if this person wasn't hiding behind an LLM and just acted normal, the turbine explosion mess would probably make the news and it would have been cleaned up - even the noise, if they have legitimate data and evidence that it keeps them up at night, should be taken seriously - but they are such cranks and unpleasant people, that nobody wants to deal with them and they're easier to ignore than appease

Almost daily posts, incoherent, ranting - why would you engage with this sort of person? Just let them tire themselves out. But the industry letting this sort of person rot is what's led to the wider anti-renewables view of the rest of the community. The community sees this, takes it at face value and immediately has their defences up whenever a new project comes along because they've seen how this person was treated (regardless of how everyone involved acted).
fwiw, this is interesting to me because I regularly visit the Lal Lal wind farm (it's a beautiful quick drive from my place) and the water fall there just to chill out and relax, I love watching the turbines and being under them
I've never been to one ... is there as much noise as some claim?

@MyView @decryption Depends on your sensitivity to low-frequency sounds (which is... complicated and hard to predict) and your propensity to anxiety. And probably your background knowledge as well.
(While a lot of the neuroscience is focused on infrasound causing stress and anxiety - which it can - I'm not sure that I buy that it's a hardwired or default reaction, though that's based entirely on my own limited experiences with it.)
It can also be really uncomfortable at close range for people with certain anatomical quirks to do with their auditory and vestibular system, and people who've had acoustic shock injuries as well. But you'll know pretty quickly if that's you, and I'm not sure if tours would actually let you get that close to them anymore (for me and my Dad, it's at around the 20-30m range that it gets a bit uncomfortable, it's just a feeling of slight pressure inside my ear as I hear the 'whoosh' from the blade).
I should also add that while 20Hz is usually cited as the low threshold of human hearing, that's kind of an average - individually, human hearing can range as low as 12Hz, so there are definitely people who can actually hear infrasound frequencies. (Infrasound is usually defined as anything below 20Hz as well; 17-18Hz seems to be used the most in experiments.)
@decryption I don't know, I've been in industrial investigations where it takes forever to clean up incidents because forensic investigation (which involves establishing where every single piece landed) takes forever.
And the investigation needs to be perfect, because you've got 150 of these things and you want to work out why it broke so the others don't. (And also make the right party pay to fix it).
How long would it take to ensure the integrity of the remaining erect tower parts? Then identify piece by piece every single part of the debris, and it's 3d location. It's basically an aircraft crash reconstruction with the added complexity of make safe activities and that's probably an 18+ month task.
@MrAndrewD that doesn't matter to the person that owns this land - they now have shit all over their property where animals roam, are already pissed off about the noise and whatever historical annoyances the wind farm has caused them

@akent I spent 30 minutes trying to find out what this person's problem with the wind farm is, but all I can see is an LLM explaining the planning permits - handy info, but like, how has the operator of the wind farm or the government not met the permit? That's the info that should be front and centre!
