If you live in London you see celebrities all the time. It’s not such a big deal. In the provinces it’s very different.
If you spot Griff Rhys Jones whilst you’re on holiday in France, back home they’ll be calling you [forename] Griff Rhys Jones [surname] and asking you to relay the story every Friday evening.
They might even rename the pub after you. “The John Griff Rhys Jones Smith Arms”.
@Nickiquote I remember almost letting the side down the first time it happened to me after I moved to London (Andrew Lincoln in Charing Cross McDonalds after the pub).
By the time I almost got knocked over by Aidan Gillen on Old Compton Street eight years later, the only thing I thought was "oh, isn't he tiny".

@Nickiquote @pikesley Except Gwyneth Paltrow. Used to spot her lurking about occasionally when she first got together with Chris Martin and they lived in Highbury Fields. Quite alarmingly thin though.
