Polish people:

The local Polish shop has a large range of Cheetos. Another shop with a large range of Polish food has a moderately large range of Cheetos. The local Tesco put Cheetos in the fridge in the Polish section. Few other shops here sell Cheetos and the few that do have one, maybe two varieties. So, I have two questions:

Is there some connection between Poland and Cheetos that I have somehow remained completely ignorant of?
Do you folks really put them in the fridge, or is that just Tesco being Tesco?

@david_chisnall slice of Cold War history. When the wall came down Pepsi aquired the famous E. Wedel (German immigrant) chocolate operation in Warsaw. They used the Polish shop shelves to land salty American stuff like Cheetos and then sold off the Polish chocolate brand used to get them there. Poland Pepsi snacks are just following the people who grew up on them.

@david_chisnall I’m polish and living in Poland. You can get Cheetos no problem but it’s not particularly popular. I’ve never seen or heard anyone refrigerating them. I feel like this might be a thing among your *local* Polish population, for whatever reason

@radex I suspect the fridge thing is just that supermarket being weird. They probably allocated a bit of space for Polish food without paying attention to whether all of it needed to be refrigerated.

I wonder if there’s an import company that’s good at getting Polish food and also happens to get Cheetos cheaply so places that order from them end up filling shelf space with Cheetos.

These are excellent questions.

While I have no helpful insights, my silly answer is that Flamin' Hot Cheetos have to be chilled to avoid spontaneous combustion.
