I don't recognise the TTS Nintendo use for Switch 2. Anyone know what it is?
@pitermach Aah, heard of it but had never heard it anywhere else.
@FreakyFwoof Its basically what VW used to be before being aquired. @pitermach
@alexchapman @pitermach Aah now this is interesting, Codex surfaced this for me: https://nvda-addons.ru/page.php?id=runaTts2
@FreakyFwoof Oh yeah I was able to get a hold of that as well, even get a free trial which with a bit of tinkering you can repeatedly get access to, but when they officially launch I'm considering actually paying as I love these Readspeaker voices. @pitermach
@FreakyFwoof It's a company based out of I think Sweden that's slowly been making more inroads in TTS stuff, particularly the on-device kind. They Acquired Neospeech and so many of their voices are based on those, though the technology they use is different to Neospeech. They have larger neural voices, larger meaning about 20 megs per voice, and smaller compact variants which is what Nintendo is using. The UK voice Nintendo uses is Bridgit, the male voice is Hugh, while for US English Nintendo is using Ashley and James. Rhythm Heaven is also using one of their voices pitched way up but I don't remember which one. They offer SDK's for the major game engines like Unity and Unreal so we're also starting to see games using their voices to speak like Marvel Tokon on the playstation and PC.
If you want to play with the voices there's a company developing a screen reader version, if you google runaTTS readspeaker you should find a link to the iOS testflight, though strangely not all the original neospeech voices are offered this way but you do get some classics like Bridgit, Kate and Paul as well as a few other good ones. A Windows and Android version is coming too as NVDA addon and SAPI, they announced it should have been released at the end of august but so far that hasn't happened.
