Nice one DPD. Just refused to deliver a parcel because I couldn't show them a QR code on my phone. They texted a link that they wanted me to open. WTF?
I'm standing in the doorway of the delivery address and they refused delivery.
What are people without smartphones supposed to do?
I showed the guy the URL and invited him to visit it on his own phone but apparently that was too complicated.
I have sympathy for the drivers. It's not their fault the company they work for is crap. Unfortunately they are the user interface I have to interact with.
I try to be polite. On Friday, I was not. I lost my temper. I think it was after the second time the driver snatched my phone and started entering menus without my consent. It was clear he thought I was some old codger confused by technology.
That was the first time I've encountered ageism. I'm 51.I suppose I look much older - thanks Covid.
@dentangle The condescension when they think you need things explained is just as bad.

DPD returned today with Friday's package. My phone battery died so I didn't even have the link to the QR code.
I said the same thing: I don't use a smartphone (technically it was a smartphone in 2011, but there's no way I'm connecting that to the Internet).
"Find another way. I'm the owner of this house which is the destination. I can sign. I have ID. It is not my responsability to generate pictures for you. Either give me the package or return it to the sender"
He gave me the package. 🤦♂️
