"Ethics aside..." Don't do that my dude. Contingent ethics are just tribalism. The idea of contingent ethics is an oxymoron that plagues the small-minded.

Ethical behavior flows from a world view that acknowledges and holds sacred the inner being of all, uh, beings. Ethics are universal and timeless, like math. You can't "set aside" 2 + 2 = 4.
