i don't have the words to describe the irrational hate i have for the terms "global north" and "global south" that academics these days use to describe economic regions of the world. i know they're supposed to be more culturally sensitive terms for "first world" and "third world" etc but somehow in my mind it's just so much worse and pretentious and i cringe so much any time i read or hear someone say it. is it because i'm australian? i can't explain it. oh well. carry on.
