Good on Sadiq for saying this, but that something as timidly couched as that even needs to be said shows how fucked we are.
Flying with fossil fuels *at scale* is not compatible with a safe future. At all. Ever. And it hasn’t been since before the time that I was doing it.

The year after we bounced back from COVID, we bounced the Earth’s mean surface temperature (GMST) by almost 0.3°C.
It looks like this year we’ll bounce it to a new record with an elevation from last year of about 0.14°C.
And next year is projected to be a further bounce of 0.21°C but might be as much as 0.44°C.
But what does “matter” mean when year on year we keep behaving like it doesn’t matter?

@liesvanrompaey tragically, that will play out. But also, Europe is heating at over twice the global average. It will undoubtedly use its remaining financial muscle to force the worst effects onto those who have least and those who have contributed the least to the predicament, while telling itself it is a standard bearer for equity and justice
