At 9:30AM in my corner of L.A., it's currently 71F degrees. At 10AM a handful of days ago, it was 100F. Last night got down to about 54F, down from 75F back those days ago. We're now about 10F below normal. A tropical storm in the Pacific may or may not bring (highly unusual for summer) rain to L.A., or temperature/humidity variations this weekend. But overall the change is sudden and welcome. Notably, it is SO QUIET NOW with all the fans that had been running 24/7 turned off for now. This was by no means the hottest heatwave I've experienced living in L.A. my entire life (I've experienced 120F a couple of times over the last 10 or 15 years or some such), but with humidity much higher than normal it was quite awful. That said, it lasted about a week to 10 days or so, and does not really compare with what the U.S. East and Southeast gets hit with routinely every summer sometimes for prolonged periods. But hey, the weather is supposed to be perfect here, like Camelot.
