While I agree, care work is still unpaid. The biggest bamboozle of women's emancipation was the fact that now two parents need to work a full time job with one of them (usually the woman) needing to also do all the house work.

One parent working used to mean feeding a whole family. Notice how women's liberation didn't mean that now parents could decide who stays home when and who goes to do paid labor.

The capitalists managed to squeeze profit even off of women's liberation. I hate this system.

Hate to break it to you, but there's been very long times men, women and kids needed to work and still didn't earn enough to eat decently.

Not that capitalism solved that. If anything, the fascists would love to go back to those days.

@ErikUden My first thought was that crumbling regulations and union membership were a significant factor that kept it from being two livable incomes for one nuclear unit, and now I’m wondering if that’s not an independent variable but instead that union membership decreases as a workplace’s racial and gender makeup changes.
