@ireneista @mxchara @zzt i moved to linux not because I believe it's a superior operating system (in many ways it is dumber than NT), but because I believed that it's design and culture at least gave the tools and responsibility to make my own choices.
unfortunately, they want so badly to be a corporation even when they aren't literally being funded and staffed by one that there is increasingly less difference
@kyle_pegasus @ireneista @mxchara @zzt Did you miss the fact that the IBM "acquisition" of Red Hat in 2018 was effectively the same sort of merger as Boeing/McDonnell-Douglas? Red Hat *is* IBM, and Red Hat is one of the biggest Linux orgs out there.
@cstross @kyle_pegasus @ireneista @mxchara the red hat guys really hate when I point out that there’s no difference between ibm and red hat, especially when ibm threatens to sue open source maintainers that don’t do free labor for them
they hate it even more when I point out that red hat was ibm even before the acquisition, cause it takes a specific type of company to become part of ibm
