It is kinda annoying, but I also kinda love that when you register a .coop domain you get personally interrogated about whether you're really a co-op.

@ntnsndr honestly I am grateful that they do this—when a local nonprofit declared themselves a "co-op incubator" they didn't pass the smell test and had to revert to .org
@ntnsndr It is one of the few top-level-domains that do this. Many country code tlds (like .CA) don’t even do this enough — even when restricted.
@douginamug that's pretty much how it goes, though every co-op seems to know you can ignore that one
@ntnsndr Gotta keep all those chicken coops out.
(I once got very confused by a fried chicken company called The Chicken Coop which clearly wasn’t a co-op.)
