@siracusa might not be the case for you but my Apple account gets locked whenever I try to sign in with a password, once my account has been linked to a passkey.

@siracusa I’ve had issues logging into the Apple Developer site for months. Get logged in, come back in a few days, and it just loops on idmsa.apple.com until it 503s. Only solution is to delete all of the cookies, go back to developer.apple.com and log in again, and a chunk of the time I get one last 503 for my troubles

I thought it was beta-related for a bit but remembered that it started way before those dropped

@siracusa Seems like more than a year ago this was happening to me constantly - but lately between 1Password and ASC it hasn’t locked in quite a while. 🪵(knock on wood emoji?)

@siracusa They have some sites grossly misconfigured. I don't know if they fixed it by now, but a few months ago it was next to impossible to create a new Apple ID on the web site. Simply following the steps to do it would trigger a rate limit.

@siracusa I created a new Apple ID using Linux and Firefox and it automatically got flagged and locked down in ten minutes because, and I quote Apple Support, "Hackers often use Linux".

They unlocked it 24 hours later.

@siracusa I have a similar issue with Apple Business. Clearing the cookies for apple.com often resolves the issue for me.

@siracusa My first thought is high volume automated credential stuffing against Apple's authentication endpoints. That would explain lockouts and the 503. This might be a silent ongoing battle for them.
