@401matthall yep, it’s a common legal dodge for companies with massive data leaks
they offer their customers $XX million in “identity theft protection” that’s worthless, and it’s on you to redeem it. so they can say you were compensated for their mistake
this happens regularly, especially for medical corporations and credit bureaus you personally have never chosen to give any information to
Now, that I've seen before it just failed to occur to me that in addition to 'offering' protection what actually took place was a sale of a list of customers who might _need_ id protection in the immediate future (because the _selling_ company leaked their clients personal info).
That's... Dark.
We should be burning buildings and rioting in the streets.
