Has anyone tried any of these https://european-alternatives.eu/category/password-managers? Opinion? Other recommendations?
@nossipova @janl I've recently tried a few but not all of them - Proton Pass is so far in the lead of my trials.
@janl @nossipova was ist jetzt wieder mit Proton?
@hukl @nossipova CEO is a Trump fan.
@janl @nossipova I think that has been debunked - at least when I looked that up I couldn't find any solid proofs. What the company does with their profits and what organizations they support is what I care more about than one maybe poorly reflected twitter post.
This post lists a good amount of counter points to your statement.
@hukl @janl @nossipova Proton had a quite questionable stance in the APT Down story. They locked accounts belonging to a security researcher for "malicious activity" and Andy personally overrode that choice, which IMHO can only go in one of two ways:
A) they had been overblocking - concerning
B) They had been following the rules (as Andy said) - then he has NO place overriding his team's ruling.
The whole discussion was a very uncomfortable thread on Reddit.
@christopherkunz @janl @nossipova I mean I'm all ears for a SaaS with comparable password vault features for an org that has not a singular question mark to their name that is located in Europe and has a pricing model that doesn't start at 25 seats. Proton is so far the best compromise.
@hukl @janl @nossipova I don't do SaaS for my passwords and I wouldn't recommend it either. So...
@christopherkunz @janl @nossipova good for you … 🙄 You do realize though, that companies have some kind of interest in making sure their employees don't store critical passwords in private password vaults or share passwords in chats rather than a secure platform, enforce a somewhat sane password strength and 2FA policy? Or no? What do you recommend in those scenarios?
@hukl @janl @nossipova I think your patronizing tone is completely unwarranted. If you want advice, don't piss people off.
@christopherkunz Lol … your ignorance for the problem at hand and saying "i wouldn't recommend it" is complete "tone" free?
