People promoting GenAI/LLMs with phrases like "just accept it" and "you cannot stop it" and "you will accept it too"...
Do you realise how creepy this sounds? The effect of these words is to make people back away slowly and block you.

@FediThing I am against what AI represents. I’ve phrased my own stance in https://mastodon.social/@urlyman/116623150311153409
But these 3 quoted statements are not on the same plane. The first and third absolutely suck and can get in the sea.
But the second is essentially true. I can and will resist the #LLMadness as resolutely as I can but I cannot stop the juggernaut of capital that is being pumped into it. It will however collapse under the weight of its own idiocy
"You cannot stop it" implies that attempts to resist it are a waste of time.
It's a terrible, awful way to argue for something. Would collaboration with fascism be more acceptable if it seems unstoppable?
(And the lesson of history is that great powers aren't as unstoppable as they seem, the old colonial empires seemed like they would last forever but they collapsed relatively quickly when they came under strain.)
@FediThing I don’t think that attempts to resist are a waste of time. Resisting is absolutely the right thing to do. And I will.
But I also accept, for example, that my resistance has not the slightest bearing on the UK government bleating on about their £100 million fund for AI startups
Ah yeah, I see where you're coming from. I think you would be using that phrase in a different context though? To try to see where resistance is most effective?
The AI bro is using it as an attempt to put down resistance, to tell people to stop struggling 😞
