@evacide This is exactly the same tactics Italian and German fascists used to stifle the opposition: Designate them as associated with ”jewish bolshevism”, and deal with them through both legal means and violence.
They are trying to fabricate an enemy that does not exist… because every fascist leader needs a scapegoat. Pure evil, with every action like this, the Trump administration provides more evidence on their authoritarian agenda.

@evacide Being designated as a terrorist organization lands you on the OFAC sanction lists. This means you won't be able to maintain bank accounts with most international banks or process credit card payments. That is basically the death of any company.
The Trump regime's paranoid xenophobia can only explain part of this. I think the Intercept is right here that they're primarily directing this at domestic dissidents.
IMO, the Trump regime is opening the door towards banning overseas-hosted communications platforms more broadly. If they can close that off, then they can herd dissidents and undesirables into domestic platforms run by US big tech firms that are happy to support the regime's large and growing domestic spy apparatus.

Real worst case we spread news on flash drives and device to device when in range. If devices only play approved files, back to analog media such as film and tape.

Also note that if we cannot use the network and only the enemy can, it becomes redefined from "infrastructure" to "enemy infrastructure" and guerillas can start tearing their shit down. Scorched earth retreat becomes an option here. "Scorched cyberspace" maybe?
You are right about them trying to push us onto their servers. Same idea as shelling an opponent's phone lines in conventional war. This encourages them to switch to radio which can be monitored.
