What are the contenders? What issues are animating the public that Democrats might center to provide a better vision than "not this?"
* Anti-War: Bigger than "Iran was a strategic mistake" what is the role of the US in the world?
* Datacenters/AI/Economy: What future do we WANT to build. For whom?
* Corruption: Powerful people are stealing from all of us with impunity. Selling our power to the highest bidder. Public servants must serve us, not profit. 2/
I think Democrats must pick at least TWO of those major issues and not just give them lip-service but become obvious true believers.
Being principled on each of these issues means losing support from powerful and wealthy interests. But, a smart politician would realize that these interests can only offer money and money still doesn't vote.
Further, as a Democrat you will always be the second choice of these people. Republicans are far better servants.

I don't know which of these issues would be best, but a question like "who is more likely to let our small town get screwed by a datacenter? the democrat or the republican?" ought to be easier to answer.
If the ambiguity persists this midterm won't turn the greater tide that's dragging this country into the gutter.
Because no one will believe that there is anyone able to correct course. Just different paths to whatever Peter Thiel has in mind for our future.
More conservative and less politically engaged Americans *will* punish Republicans by either not showing up to vote or even voting for a Democrat, but they won't do so expecting Democrats to be any better. This is a disaster. Instead they see it as just disrupting the looting of powerful group with another.
After two years of budget fights and failed impeachments these people will swing back to the right.
We can't go any further right. If we do it's over.
The impeachments need to succeed. But many Democrats are still scared to even raise the issue. They remain coy. "well see what happens" this doesn't inspire trust.
The same is true of war. There are the Democrats who condemn the war on Iran but it isn't clear if they think it should end ... or if they just think it's not being done correctly.
