Would an EU politician please tell me why I — as an EU citizen — have to see unconventional, politicized place names dictated by Trump in both Google Maps and Apple Maps on an iPhone bought in the EU?
Are the European countries still sovereign states or have we somehow become vassal states of The Kingdom of Trumpistan?

Google explains it in a blog post. They say that they use official names from the US GNIS, and the names have been changed in that database.

This has nothing to with the EU. This has everything to do with Google Maps and Apple Maps. They have a shown you who they are.
If a foreign country illegally changed the name of Windsor Castle to Trump Tower Windsor, or the Eiffel Tower to the Trump Tower Paris, would Giggle and Apple show those changes??

@randahl I thought that is normal behavior from Google and similar services for places that have different names in different countries.
Like Falkland Isles (Islas Malvinas), the Persian Golf (Arabian Golf) or the Japanese Ocean (Eastern Ocean).
(That's not to say I think this crap from Trumpistan is any good)
