Quit Google Maps and switched to Mapquest today. Also experimenting with OsmAnd. We have options. We don't need to support fascist enablers.
Mapquest: We haven't updated our maps since 2007, and we're not about to start now!
@mastodonmigration OsmAnd and CoMaps are great because you get all the updates from #OpenStreetMap contributors like me!

From Playstore. Isn't that interesting that Google Playstore reviews are bad for a major competitor to one if Google's flagship products. 🤷

Doing a desktop search on Google Maps shows:
"Lake America Smallest of the 5 Great Lakes"
Poor Don The Con, everything associated with him is... small. 😩

@mastodonmigration UK here - search on google maps for Lake America and same for Lake Ontario - here's the results, lol!

@mastodonmigration abandoned google maps (and from there also the whole google ecosystem) from the times of the "Gulf of America"
@mastodonmigration What are good alternatives to Google Maps on Android? Google Maps has had lots of issues lately including political stuff and constantly trying to send me through closed roads with alternative routes also trying to go through closed roads.
Also Google Maps constantly tries to get me to drive on bike and hiking paths and support hasnt done anything despite me making complaints.

@mastodonmigration interesting. I'm in the UK and it's still displaying as Ontario. Perhaps that one is purely for US consumption. Not that I'm weighing in on Grovel's side - very far from it.

@mastodonmigration Oh it must be true, now that a Google app says so. Just remember, it only says that within the U.S. or from a U.S. IP. the rest of us, well it's still the good old Lake Ontario, and if Google should try to change that, well Google gets the heave ho not the lake.
