#TheGhostInTheShell is a delight. Science Saru putting out banger after banger.
@Gargron you talking about the new anime? Dunno, I saw a trailer and found it ugly as hell to be fair, compared to the original movie (and also SAC) it felt extremely interchangeable.
@DJGummikuh The visual style and storyline are a near 1:1 adaptation of the original manga, which none of the other adaptations have ever managed.
@WAHa_06x36 I admit I never read the manga, but the realistic aesthetics of the first two movies was what drew me to the anime. The play with light and shade in conjunction with the generally dystopian flair of the environment was something special to me.
@DJGummikuh It is lovely, but, it is a concept original to the adaptations, not related to the original work.
All of the adaptations so far have been only vaguely based on the original work, and have been in large parts created from scratch.
This make sense to do, because the original is massively dense and inaccessible and full of sharp corners, and filing them down to make something more accessible helps a lot.
But it still loses a lot of the quirky charm of the actual original.
@Gargron Oh... #ghostsOfFedi isn't half bad either 🤭😅
