Now that the ATmosphere has some more nodes on it, the big reason given for not using ActivityPub, missing replies, turns out to be also a problem on the ATmosphere.
All stuff I called out as being likely to be challenges, it's just that the ATmosphere (Bluesky etc) didn't have enough decentralization happening yet.
In fact, it's going to be harder to get this right on the ATmosphere as more full nodes appear, because the fediverse has an *imperfect* mechanism with directed delivery (with some improvements in spec for the server at the top of the thread helping to share replies it's seen, and other implementation such as Mastodon have also added good features like reply-fetching, so this isn't even a big complaint you see from users anymore). But the shared heap architecture doesn't have that.
ATproto *could add* addressing and directed delivery, and I believe to address these issues, will have to.
