Looking with a huge side eye at the ableism in the idea that your activism only counts if you're physically taking part all the time.
I'll be IRL when gatherings have a robust public health policy and consider masking as part of solidarity.
Activism by it's nature is performative. That's the point of it.
Community work is labour, regardless of how public or private it is.
But it does tell me who wants us to be quiet. Who doesn't wonder who disappeared and why.

It's 2026 and we could have had more accessible communities. But somehow other peoples comfort is more important than community safety at public events.
I know the values of many in our communities and it's a cross of FOMO and screw you, I got mine.
If you're feeling called out and hurt. Take a moment. Then start your research.
I truly hope we can all do better.
Because chronic illness does suck, and it's isolating. We miss people. But even our friends and families aren't safe for us.
@onepict this was also exactly how the UK/Metpol spycops (and more recently some feds in USA) were so easily able to infiltrate many activist groups - they simply volunteered for all the "boring / nerdy " community work aspects of activist groups and provided effort and resources, and thus were also able to get deep into the organisations and gather info simply because no one genuine wanted to do that work..
