An Austrian in France once cautioned me, "Before you move to Italy, you must accept that nothing works. It's beautiful, it's a good time, but absolutely nothing works. And you can never change it. It takes a special kind of personality to accept that and live peacefully inside it. Most cannot, and so move away again, eventually." I remember that talk about once a week, now that I'm trying to get things done and absolutely nothing works. I'll not give up. I'll learn a new peace, with laughter.
