OpenBSD should work fine on any Thinkpad. But for wifi you will need a dongle for a supported chipset, OpenBSD does not support any Lenovo wifi, sounds like FreeBSD is similar there.

because i've been daily driving openbsd for over a decade on all my computers and never had wifi problems. actually once, but i know how to read, so i read the manpage, found which cards were compatible with my machine, and bought it on ebay for $3.
Dongle my ass.
And don't talk shit about my AI girlfriend. At least I use her for fucking and not generating bullshit about computers.
