finished Hackers today and boy that book ends on a depressing note
I mean, not if you live in 2010 I guess, and are a sucker for big tech optimism
but fin 2026, it's really depressing to read that book and realize where the world has ended up

@beka_valentine like the old “Heroes of the Computer Revolution” book?
@0x09 its a really good book but it documents a much more hopeful period and so the contrast is really saddening
