It looks to me like David Farley may have always intended to be an independent and just used One Nation to get in the door. If so, good luck to him.

I agree re red flag. I have to question his integrity if it was his plan all along (as it appears to be). If he hoodwinks voters to get in, how can he represent his constituents, which is what he is supposed to do.

@TasDave to the extent that people were not so much voting for ON but against the two-party system, they may not be that concerned if he jumps ship, as long as he delivers

My problem is, if he didn’t intend to represent ON. He lied to the electorate as well as to ON.
I don’t want ON to get more seats but I don’t want candidates that are liars to get in either.
@TasDave @luciedigitalni voters in that electorate have felt for many years that the old parties in both State and Federal politics don’t care about them or their lives, and haven’t had a politician with integrity representing them since Tim Fischer retired 25 years ago. They care less about what party their rep is in and more about how much fight their rep brings to the old parties. Hence the ON and the other conservative (but less fighty) independent polling so much higher than the Liberal and National party candidates. Integrity means something different out there — not whether you stick with one party, but whether you will tell the old parties what they’re getting wrong.
The voters are angry, and they want someone to bring that anger to Parliament.
